General Sharing & Permissions Info
- Each page can have its own customized access for different people. There are four access levels:
view-only,comment-only,edit access, andFull Access(edit + sharing access)
- Sub-pages automatically inherit permissions from their parent page. You can then restrict or expand the permissions if you want a sub-page to have different access than a parent page, see more details here.
- Best Practice - Nest Pages: Make new pages within the hierarchy of Workspace pages rather than sharing pages one-off. This will help keep our space uncluttered and makes it easier to manage permissions!
- Read more about sharing and permissions in Notion's support guides.
How to share a specific page
As mentioned above, the best way to share a page is to Move the page into our hierarchy. As a sub-page, it will automatically inherit the permissions of its parent page. To restrict or expand these permissions, use the share menu in the top right-hand corner.
- Share with people or a group: You can share the page with a specific user or with a group that has been made (see more about our permission groups here). For each group or individual, you can assign a different level of access.
- Copy link: Makes the page easy to share. The link will only work for people who have access based on your other settings.

Important Rules on Sharing
- Our Notion space is an internal company resource, do not share with external users or add guests.
Permission Groups
Permission groups allow you to easily share pages with a larger group of colleagues, rather than adding each member individually. Our permission groups are based on our organization's structure. Only admins can edit permission groups.
